The Business of the Business

So, yesterday my mother and I sat down to write a letter for some shops to see if they'd be interested in carrying our pendants. Pretty good stuff. It'd be nice during the winter months to have some way to get our merchandise out there without having to freeze our butts off at Kane County. :)

Also, Friday on Facebook, I started the first of the weekly give-a-ways! I just wanted to see who was paying attention. So, I gave out a song lyric and was waiting for the right answer. Well, a friend got it right away. It kind of surprised me but I'm happy that someone took interest. It gets people looking at the store- right?

Now, I figure I'll try it out here. The FIRST person to answer it correctly will be notified on Friday. Along with your answer, please have the name of the item you'd like to win!

Trivia question... What movie is this quote from: "If you get married, will we still go out dancing?"- "We will always go out dancing!"

It's Sunday Already?!

I cannot believe how quickly both the first week back to school went and how absurdly fast the weekend slipped away from me.

Both my mother and I have been working on some new pendants for the shop. We've changed our sale for the Fall. Everything in the shop is Buy 3 Get 1 Free and free shipping as well.

I don't think we are going to be at Kane County in 2 weeks. I've got a wedding to shoot and we don't have much in the way of furniture to give us any sustenance for 2 loooong days. I'm trying to convince my mother that Sunday would be just fine if we took all of our necklaces, hair accessories, and the vintage jewelry. We shall see how this shakes out- I will certainly keep you all informed.

Etsy has been good to us this past month. We've had several sales and are excited that we've been "found" there. Certainly, we are still not where we'd hope to be- but all good things come to those who wait... and wait... and wait...

Recently, there have been some cool Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton's version) graphics that have come into our lives. Hopefully those will make an appearance soon. It's strange to not have all day to play and create. I told my husband this morning that I feel like my freedom has been taken away being back at school. My time, my interests, my reading, my feet have all been encumbered to the school day and those teenagers that drain everything out of you every single day.

Come on September 7th!!

Until later...

Good Bye Garage Sailing...

Here we are, Friday August 14th. It is officially my last day of summer vacation... I know.. I know.. I can hear you all booing and hissing as we speak.. poor baby, indeed!

To understand how sad today actually is, we must think about when we are off for a week's vacation. That Sunday night, oh the dread of it all!! Getting up early, showering and driving to work. All of that vacation glow falling off of you when you cross the threshold of the job. Imagine being off for 11 weeks and having to return to the drudgery!! Just when you think you've hit the jackpot and are happily retired, you get up, put on socks and closed toed shoes and walk into a classroom with a bunch of kids who'd rather be sleeping, eating, picking their noses, whatever- just not in front of you. If they only knew how much teachers hated it, too. I'd much rather be sleeping, eating, or picking... hmm... garage sailing!!

My mother got a job about a month ago and our endless twin vacations came abruptly to a halt. I was forced to go garage sailing myself- it is not half as much fun without your other half.

So, today was it. And, to add insult to injury, there weren't many sales and when there were, there wasn't much to pick from. Bummer.

On a lighter note- this last month of summer has lead to the creation of more goodies in our shop! We are going to start reaching out to shops in hopes they'll be interested in carrying our goodies! Kane County was a success and we received a lot of positive feedback. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
